KUALA LUMPUR: Customers do not have to make an upfront payment of RM2 when booking a taxi from Aug 1 this year, says TaxiMonger Sdn Bhd.

In a statement today, TaxiMonger said instead a booking fee of RM2 would be added to the meter and paid directly to the taxi-driver.

It said for taxi drivers, the previous monthly subscription fee of RM50 has been scrapped.

“With a zero monthly obligation, a taxi driver now is only obliged to pay TaxiMonger RM1.50 per booking without any commission on the meter revenue,” it said.

TaxiMonger said by end-August this year, the company was slated to sign a services agreement with a taxi company.

“This will add TaxiMonger’s fleet to over 900 taxis.

“The new pricing structure is expected to attract more small and medium-sized taxi companies to sign up their drivers,” it said.
