We want new talents: winnable candidate
KUALA LUMPUR, June 12: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak says he is looking at all possibilities before calling for the general election.
He pointed out that Barisan Nasional had to re-invigorate itself with new talents to strike a balance between the older and new generation of leaders.
He said there was a need to ensure continuity by maintaining a number of current leaders who were still popular with the people.
The prime minister was asked when the polls would be held during a one-hour NSTLive Chat Session on Tuesday.
On suggestions that it would be tough going for Barisan to tackle urban areas, Najib said the government would continue to engage the urban voters, including the Chinese community.
He said it was to make them understand that their future would be better with Barisan at the helm towards ensuring peace, stability, harmony and a more prosperous society. On security, Najib said although the general crime rate had fallen, more could be done to ensure a safer environment for the people.
