PETALING JAYA – PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has criticised the expulsion of a student caught mooning, stepping and squatting on pictures of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his wife.

“This is selective prosecution. If action is to be taken, it should be the same for all.

“If the same acts were committed against (DAP secretary-general) Lim Guan Eng, then action should be taken too. Only then would it be fair,” she said at the launch of PKR’s Merdeka Rakyat mobile stage tour yesterday.

Dr Wan Azizah was commenting on the expulsion of a 19-year-old student by Cybernetics International College of Technology.

On another case of a part-time model who stepped on photographs of Najib, Dr Wan Azizah said: “It goes to show they want to use any instrument to prosecute people who they think are against them.”

The teenager and her boyfriend, 20, had turned themselves in to Johor police after they were identified as among those who had allegedly stepped on the images of Najib and Rosmah during the gathering at Dataran Merdeka.

Ong Xin Yi and handphone operator Lim Kian Peng have been released on police bail but will have to return here for further questioning on Oct 5.
