KUALA LUMPUR (May,12) – Parti Keadilan Rakyat president Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and the wife of his deputy will have to come clean over an alleged affair involving their spouses, said Jaringan Melayu Malaysia national director Noraini Abdul Khalil Saferi. Noraini said Dr Wan Azizah and Shamsidar Taharin, who is the wife of PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, would have to erase any doubts or suspicions surrounding the controversy.

“They must prove that the claims are baseless, then we will be satisfied.

“She (Dr Wan Azizah) should hold a joint-press conference with Azmin’s wife Shamsidar and come clean about all the talk surrounding their husbands.” She said the press conference was vital as it would explain all the allegations by Malaysian United Indian Party president Datuk S. Nallakarupan. Noraini also said Dr Wan Azizah could demand that Shamsidar provide her with a thorough explanation as to what had really occured between Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Shamsidar.

If Shamsidar was shy and refused to offer a verbal explanation, the matter could be solved by a written statement instead, said Noraini. She said keeping mum over the matter would only give the public the perception that the rumours were indeed true, resulting in society having a skewed view of PKR. However, if the accusations were true, Noraini said Anwar should admit them, openly apologise and relinquish his post.

It was reported earlier that Nallakarupan had claimed Anwar was a bisexual and was not fit to become the next prime minister or an opposition leader. He had also produced a videotape, which he claimed contained damning evidence against Anwar, which he had handed over to his lawyer, Datuk Seri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah last month. -AsiaOne
