Victim who was injured when hit by a train – regained consciousness
SUNGAI PETANI – The victim who was injured when hit by a train while crossing a railway track has regained consciousness, but is still in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital (HSAH) here.
Acting Kuala Muda district police chief Supt Ong Aik Chang said K. Rani, 20, who fractured her limbs, could now speak.
“Her condition is reported stable, but she is still at the ICU,” he said when contacted by Bernama.
Rani and her younger sister, Nalini Devi, both production operators at a factory, were crossing the railway track on a motorcycle when the wheels of the machine got caught in the track before a train rammed into them at a crossing early yesterday.
The impact of the collision resulted in the motorcycle being dragged for 200 meters, killing Nalini Devi on the spot.
The sisters, together with two friends, were returning to their Taman Kelisa Ria home here after attending a prayer ceremony at another friend’s house in Pekan Baru, when the crash occurred at 12.45am.
