KOTA KINABALU – Sabah Umno members have been urged to avoid backstabbing in the run up to the 13th general election as it could be detrimental to Barisan Nasional’s (BN) victory.

Its information chief, Datuk Sapawi Ahmad said Umno members should heed the advice of Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to stop backbiting as it would put the party’s election machinery in disarray.

“Certainly, we welcome his (Muhyiddin) warning that saboteurs and backstabbers will be expelled from the party,” he told reporters at the closing of the state-level Merdeka Jalur Gemilang expedition here last night.

Sapawi said as the backbone of the BN, Ummo needed to show discipline that was important as it geared up for the polls.

In his speech, Sapawi, who is also Sabah Information executive councillor, said the expedition, which was organised by the Sabah Information Department, was platform to spur patriotic fervour. – UMNO
