Tunku Aziz resigns from DAP
KUALA LUMPUR, May 14, 2012: DAP vice-chairman Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim announced Monday he is resigning from the party because of irreconcilable’ differences with top party leaders.
His resignation follows negative reaction from DAP leaders after he criticized the recent Bersih 3.0 rally.
As a result, he has been told that his senatorship, due to end on May 31, will not be renewed.
During an interview on NTV7 on Monday night, he said he would be advising the party on his resignation “within the next few minutes”.
“I think the time has come for me to take a hard very serious look at my own position within the party.
“Given the very wide differences now, which are irreconcilable, there is no alternative but for me to seek to withdraw with some dignity left.
“I will, therefore, resign my membership from the DAP and I will be advising the party within the next few minutes,” he said during the interview that ended at 9.30pm.
