GEORGE TOWN – The three female university students who were secretly filmed by a male colleague while showering in a hotel room in Canada are angry and feel humiliated over the incident.

One of them, in her 20s, said she felt betrayed by the action of the male student.

It is learnt that the man claimed he had deleted the clip from his camera.

One of the victims, who declined to be named, also asked for privacy as the whole episode had hurt them emotionally.

“We want to be left alone. We just want to continue with our lives,” she said yesterday.

It was reported in Nanyang Siang Pau that the male student had filmed the girls taking their showers and attempted to sell the video.

The incident happened in Vancouver in May when four of them joined a trip to represent their university. They decided to stay together in a room to cut accommodation costs.

He was said to even offer the girls a share of the profit from the sale of the video.

One of the victims lodged a report with the Canadian police before making another police report when she returned to Penang.

“The Canadian police said they could not do anything,” she added.

The students also filed a complaint with the university in Penang.

Universiti Sains Malaysia deputy vice-chancellor (Student Affairs and Development) Prof Adnan Hussein said a probe was being carried out on the matter. – The Star
