GEORGE TOWN  –  Penang Barisan Nasional (BN), in its 2013 new year message, has urged the electorate to use their vote wisely in the 13th general election.

State BN chairman Teng Chang Yeow said the people should base their decisions on past and documented well-planned policies and not be taken in by mere rhetoric.

He said the economic challenges the world is facing as well as the tension between rising power China and economic powerhouse Japan are poised to play the part in the future of the country.

“The year 2013 will also determine a lifestyle based on Westminister democracy or a democracy with a strong influence of Islamisation as a way of life. Malaysians have to weigh this carefully,” he said in a statement today.

Teng, a state Exco member during the BN regime, also called upon voters to consider the economic transformation of Penang within the context of regional and international economic influences.

“Penang has been leading the nation in industralisation and Penang must continue to lead the nation in economic transformation,” he stressed before wishing all a happy new year.
