Suspended PKR division chief assaulted, near PM’s office

S. Murali, suspended Puchong PKR division chief was severely assaulted near the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in Putrajaya today.

The alleged assault, which occurred at about 11am, took place during a scuffle between MIC and PKR members. Murali is now awaiting medical treatment.

S Murali was there with about 100 PKR members led by party vice-president N Surendran arrived at the PMO to deliver a memorandum to Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak, urging him to look into the plight of 17-year-old student B Reshina.

Reshina was prevented by the Gombak district education office from attending school last month as she did not have a blue MyKad.

At the same time, a large number of MIC members also arrived at the scene to show gratitude to Najib for granting blue MyKads to thousands of Malaysian Indians under the MyDaftar programme.

The scuffle is said to have started after Murali allegedly hurled vulgarities at MIC members near the PMO guard house.

About 50 policemen arrived at the scene to control the situation. An MIC Youth member from the Batu division known as Kumar was detained over the brawl.
