Suspected snatch victim found dead

MALACCA: The body of a woman, believed to be a foreigner, was found lying by the side of Jalan Ujung Padang, Cheng, here, yesterday morning.

The woman, who was believed to have been murdered, was found lying in the bushes at the side of the road at around 9.30am by a member of the public who had been passing by.

State Criminal Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner Raja Shahrom Raja Abdullah said initial checks found no signs of injury on the victim’s body.

He said when the victim was found, she had been fully clothed in jeans and a t-shirt.

“Our Forensic Unit and K9 Unit rushed to the scene after receiving the call reporting the find.

“Upon initial investigations, we found no clear cause of death, but discovered blood coming out from the victim’s ears and feet. Based on the body’s condition, we believe she had been killed three to four hours before being found,” he said when met at the scene.

Raja Shahrom added that police also found a handbag, believed to be the victim’s, about 100 metres from where the body was found.

“However, there were no identification documents found in the bag or the surrounding area.

“We have yet to determine the motive behind the murder and will continue a full investigation. The case has been classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code,” he said.

Members of the public who are missing family members or employers who are missing any of their employees are asked to contact the nearest police station to aid in investigations.  –  NST
