Police personnel targeted by disciplinary act
KOTA KINABALU – Disciplinary action was taken against 68 personnel, including officers, other ranks and civilian staff of the Sabah Contingent Police Headquarters this year for breaching regulations and discipline.
Sabah Police Commissioner, Datuk Hamza Taib said the action was taken under Regulations 36 and 37 of the Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993 after being investigated by the Disciplinary Branch, Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) Sabah.
“Of the total, three individuals were expelled while the rest faced action such as given warnings, fines, deprived of emoluments or given pay cuts.
“Among the offences committed were disobeying orders, negligence while on duty, and lacking discipline,” he said when approached by reporters after the monthly assembly of the Sabah Contingent Police at the Sabah IPK, here today.
Hamza said, however, the disciplinary offences were still under control as they only involved five per cent of the total Sabah contingent. – Bernama
