GEORGE TOWN: PLUS will hand over the closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) footage to shed light on an accident on the Penang Bridge which killed accounts clerk Tan Kean Loon.

The Penang Bridge concessionaire’s head of Corporate Communication Mohd Nizam Ismail said PLUS would work closely with the police.

“We are transparent. We will assist the police, including handing over the CCTV footage to them,” he said.

On Thursday, factory accounts clerk Tan, 24, was on his way home to Air Itam at about 4am when his car rammed into the side guardrail at Km7.9 along the bridge.

The car then skidded along the iron railing for a short distance before hitting a lamp post and plunging into the sea.

Tan’s mother Ooi Bee Leng, 55, said PLUS should have viewed the CCTV footage on the spot where Tan’s car had plunged before informing the police, as reported in The Star.

It was a heart-wrenching scene at the funeral parlour yesterday when more than 100 family members, friends and relatives turned up to pay their last respects to Tan, who was cremated at the Batu Gantong Crematorium.
