KUALA LUMPUR: Police have responded to recent rumors that a new sodomy case has been allegedly reported against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, saying that no such report have been lodged on the Opposition leader.

Bukit Aman CID director Datuk Seri Mohd Bakri Zinin confirmed that the police have not received any complaint from any undergraduate who was rumored to have been sodomized by Anwar.

Yesterday, a pro-Umno blogger Papagomo claimed that a university student had filed a police complaint accusing Anwar of sodomy. Earlier this year, the PKR de facto leader was acquitted by the High Court of sodomizing a former male aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, at a condominium in Damansara Heighst here in June 2008.

The prosecution is appealing the verdict.

Meanwhile, Anwar, who is attending a Peace and Reconciliation in Southeast Asia conference in Jakarta, is said to be taking the recent buzz going around among pro-Umno bloggers in his stride.

Earlier, Anwar had tweeted that he will be at the conference with former Thai prime minister Thaksin Sinawatra and Nobel peace prize recipient and Timor Leste ex-president Jose Ramos-Horta.

He also said that Indonesian president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will be the keynote speaker at the conference.

Thaksin lives in self-exile in Dubai while Ramos, the Timor Leste president from 2007 to 2012, was a co-recipient of the 1996 Nobel peace prize.

Thaksin was the former prime minister of Thailand from 2001 until 2006, when he was overthrown in a military coup.

Yesterday, Papagomo claimed that an undergrad had filed a report against Anwar in a police station in one of the northern states, alleging sodomy.

“It is not known if the report is real or not but what is certain is that all embassies in Malaysia must not protect Anwar if he decides to hide himself like he did in the previous sodomy case,” wrote Papagomo. – Malaysian Digest
