Nicol’s on top of the world with 7 world titles

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 22  –  Malaysia’s world No. 1 Nicol David claimed her seventh women’s World Open squash title after defeating Laura Massaro of England in the final yesterday.

According to the competition’s official website, http://www.worldopensquash.com, the 29-year-old put up a sizzling performance to dismiss third seed Massaro in just under half-an-hour.

In the final held at Camana Bay in the Cayman Islands at 9pm local time (10am Malaysian time), Nicol outclassed her opponent in straight sets of 11-6, 11-8 and 11-6.

With the win, Nicol has created history of her own and women’s squash by winning the world title for a seventh time.

She had won the title in Hong Kong in 2005, Northern Ireland (2006), England (2008), Egypt (2010) and twice in the Netherlands (2009 and 2011)  –  Bernama
