Yityish Aynaw, newly crowned Miss Israel 2013, has been invited to dine with President Barack Obama and 120 other guests when Obama visits Israel next week. The beauty queen was selected by the president’s staff because they want her to share her unique story.
The dinner will include several high-ranking Israeli government officials, including Knesset speaker Rueven Rivlin and President Shimon Peres.Yityish Aynaw made history in Israel as the first black winner in the history of theMiss Israel Pageant (she is of Ethiopian descent).
Yityish Aynaw was crowned Miss Israel 2013 or Israel’s Queen of Beauty 2013 on February 27, 2013 at the Haifa International Convention Center. The Ethiopian-born beauty is 21 years old and stands 1.82 m. She will represent Israel in the upcoming Miss World 2013 Pageant, scheduled to take place in Jakarta, Indonesia on September 28.
“Ten years ago,” she told Yedioth Ahronoth, “I was walking around barefoot in Ethiopia and I never imagined that one day I would be in the Land of Israel, meeting the Israeli president and the president of the United States. I could never have imagined such a powerful and exciting situation.”
