MIEC, SeNet launches the Perdana Young Indian Entrepreneurs Award 2016

The Malaysian Indian Entrepreneur Cooperative (MIEC), a Cooperative formed in 2010 for the economic advancement of the Indian entrepreneurs in collaboration with The Social Entrepreneurs Network (SeNet) launched the Perdana Young Indian Entrepreneurs Award 2016 (Perdana YIEA) at The Armada, Petaling Jaya. This is the 11th addition of the Award which was first introduced in 2005.

The Launching Ceremony was officiated by the Minister of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism, YB Dato Seri Hamzah Zainuddin. The event was participated by 150 Indian entrepreneurs.

The Young Indian Entrepreneur Award (YIEA) was introduced in year 2005 with support of various organizations to provide a competitive platform for Young Indian Entrepreneurs to compete in the business arena. YIEA was introduced so that successful entrepreneurs could share their success stories, inspire others and receive the recognition they deserve.

YIEA is a platform for entrepreneurs between the ages 25 to 40 who are primarily responsible for the success of their business and or who have implemented creative measures or method that result in positive outcome in their business operation.

YIEA is rebranded as Perdana Young Indian Entrepreneur Award 2016 as a Premier Award to reflect its status as an Award of high esteem. The Perdana Young Indian Entrepreneurs Award (YIEA) 2016 — “Nur­turing Indian Entrepreneurs” is a competitive platform for our Young Indian Entrepreneurs to compete in the business arena.

Among the criteria as an entry requirement for the nominee for the Perdana Young Indian Entrepreneur Award are:

  • Financial performance and growth of the Company
  • Innovative Business Model
  • Leadership Skills
  • Success Story and Obstacles Faced
  • Social Responsibility to the Community



The MIEC’s Perdana YIEA 2016 offers Young Indian Entrepreneurs a key to the door of business opportunities. Winners of MIEC Perdana YIEA 2016 have the chance to network, exchange business ideas and explore business creativity with other winners and other captains of the business community.Recognition through MIEC Perdana YIEA not only increases credibility of nominee’s organization but also adds value to their organization.

A Panel of Judges made up of prominent businessman, professionals, representatives of Business association and Accounting firm will review the nomination received, evaluate and interview the nominees and select the winner.

An Award ceremony will be held in July 2016 to announce and recognise the winners.

MIEC will also be recognising Indian Entrepreneurs who excel in their area of expertise through the Industry Excellence Award or Category Award. This Award is open to all Indian Entrepreneurs regardless of age who has proven to be an icon in their area of expertise. Last year, 25 Indian Entrepreneurs were recognised under the Industry Excellence Award or Category Award.

MIEC will be collaborating with The Secretariat For The Empowerment of the Indian Entrepreneurs (SEED), Socio Economic Development of the Indian Community (SEDIC) under The Prime Minister’s Department and trade association like MAICCI, KLSICCI, 1 MINE, MIBA and NSIE to ensure quality nomination is received for this award.
