CYBERJAYA – The MIC will ensure that Indian support for the Barisan Nasional will be stronger in the coming general election (GE), as compared to the GE in 2008.

Party president Datuk Seri G Palanivel reasoned that Indian support for the party would be bigger this time around, as the community had received tremendous benefits from the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Since taking over office in 2009, Najib has always been ready to engage in key issues and offered wider opportunities for the Indian community in education, development programs and civil services.

“All these initiatives are bearing results now. We can see that more Indians are supportive of Barisan Nasional and the MIC now, as compared to the 2008 general election.

“Definitely, the community’s general support has increased, and the 2008 scenario will not repeat.

“We are working towards a much better party for the community,” he told reporters after a dialogue session with 600 students at the 1Malaysia Indian Students Summit held at the Limkokwing University here yesterday.

On another issue regarding a prominent Perak-based MIC leader allegedly caught on a sex video, Palanivel said:

“The video could be true or hoax, and done out of jealousy and anger.

“As far as the MIC is concerned, if the video exists and we are given the tape, we will take disciplinary action against those who handed over the video to the online media portal (Free Malaysia Today), and the person involved in the video.”

Last Wednesday, Free Malaysia Today reported that the MIC leader was caught on video with a sex worker in Thailand. – Bernama
