KUALA LUMPUR, May 14, 2012: Malaysian oil and gas firms clinched over US$7.2 billion (RM22.18 billion) in new business opportunities at the recently concluded Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) Houston 2012.

According to the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade), these opportunities are in the oil and gas exploration, fabrication of oil and gas structures as well as shipbuilding and offshore support.

Over 145 meetings were arranged for Malaysian companies participating under the Malaysian Pavilion, which was coordinated by Matrade in collaboration with Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation and Malaysian Investment Development Authority.

Matrade chairman Datuk Mah Siew Keong witnessed the signing of two MoUs.

The first deal was between Muhibbah Engineering (M) Bhd and Ford, Bacon & Davis LLC for the engineering and project management services for oil & gas, energy and process services.

The second was between Innovative Fluid Process Sdn Bhd and Americas Energy Co for the provision of facilities, system design and engineering.

Mah hoped Malaysian companies will benefit and use this opportunity as a launching pad for expanding not only to the US, but also to Latin America and Canada.

Participation in OTC Houston 2012 is part of Matrade’s continuous efforts to promote Malaysia’s capabilities and expertise in oil and gas.
