Karpal is too old for politics now and liability to Pakatan Rakyat
KUALA LUMPUR – Pas Terengganu Youth chief Mohd Nor Hamzah said DAP chairman Karpal Singh is a liability to Pakatan Rakyat and should step down as he is old and no longer capable of attracting young voters.
Furthermore Mohd Nor said Karpal’s radical views reflect his lack of grasp of the current political situation.
Speaking to The Mole Mohd Nor said: “Karpal is too old for politics now. He can no longer attract young voters with his radical views.”
“His attack against Nasrudin (Hassan Tantawi Pas Youth Chief) in the media shows how he does not understand the co-operation within Pakatan Rakyat.”
“DAP should view Karpal as a liability. There is no point of going on a public squabble over the hudud issue when it can be discussed with Pas to better understand it,” he added.
“Why do we keep giving Barisan Nasional space to attack us?”
Mohd Nor believes Karpal purposely raised the hudud issue even without understanding the law to show that he is still relevant to his supporters.
He also took Pas leadership to task for leaving Nasrudin to defend himself against Karpal’s outburst against him (Nasruddin).
“Pas is seen to be silent over the matter while Karpal continues to attack our youth leader. It is as if Nasrudin has to defend hudud on his own when hudud is actually Pas’ aspiration.”
It was reported that Pas deputy president Mohamad Sabu has urged Nasrudin to meet Karpal and resolve their squabble over the hudud issue.
Commenting on the news report Mohd Nor said: “It is not only Nasrudin who needs to meet Karpal, I believe Pas and other Pakatan leaders should have a meeting to clarify and explain about hudud and its implementation.”
Earlier this week a news report highlighted Nasrudin’s remarks to Karpal by calling a non-believer (kufur) for rejecting the hudud law.
Nasruddin tweeted: “Karpal konsisten tolak hudud krn kekufurannya. Malah siapa jua yg tolak hukum Allah ini kufur. PAS terus istiqamah dgn perjuangan Islamnya.” (Karpal is consistent in rejecting hudud because he is a heathen/infidel. Anyone who rejects Allah’s law is an infidel. Pas will continue with its struggle to uphold Islam).
In response to Nasrudin’s remarks, Karpal had warned Pas to stop making contradictory statements regarding hudud and spoiling Pakatan Rakyat’s chances in the 13th General Election.
Karpal was quoted as saying: “I must warn this political upstart to mind his language. No one, no party, no organisation can claim to have a monopoly on God.”
“I must state with all the force at my command that I believe in God. There is only one God and all religions reflect that.”
A blog post had highlighted how Pas is caught for telling lies about the implementation of hudud, when both DAP and PKR were under the impression that the party had abandoned its plan and replaced it with the welfare state.
The blogger known as Marzuki Muhammad also wrote that hudud was used by Pas again and again for political gain to secure the support of its members.
“It clearly shows how Pas leadership is not consistent and they are not serious in implementing hudud,” he wrote. – The Mole
