Kamalanathan convinced that Surendran and Anwar is no different
MIC Putera coordinator P.Kamalanathan told The Mole: “I know for a fact that he (Surendran) does not have the numbers and just like in other occasions when he made any allegations he does not back them up with facts.”
“It is the same with Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (Opposition leader) who just makes allegations and claims without proving anything,” said Kamalanathan who is MP for Hulu Selangor.
“Some time ago, I wrote an article addressed to Surendran asking him to have a discussion with me over the stateless Indian claim, but until today there has been no response from him.”
Surendran previously claimed that there are over 300,000 stateless Indians in the country without identity cards (IC) and birth certificates.
On Dec 15, 2012, Surendran told The Mole that he can prove all 300,000 stateless Indians in the country, saying: “I have all my evidence..through statistical information which has been gathered from rural areas throughout the country and complaints from those without proper Identification Cards and Birth Certificates.”
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak during the MIC’s 66th General Assembly held on Dec 11 last year rebuked Surendran’s claim stating: “Firstly, there are no such claims. We have identified 9,000 stateless Indians and 4,500 have been issued birth certificates while 2,000 are still on the waiting list.”
Blogger A. Chandrakumanan also urged Surendran to not just talk about it but prove that there are 300,000 stateless Indians.
“During the My Daftar campaign more than 15,000 Indians have registered under the campaign and 9,000 applications have been processed, out of which about 6,000 have been approved for MyKad (identity cards) or citizenship within 10 month,” the blogger wrote. – Mole.my
