A ROADSIDE politician. That was what Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz described Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM) president Azwandin Hamzah.

Azwandin had called Nazri a “political liability” following the controversy surrounding his son, Mohd Nedim’s relationship with Sabah businessman Micheal Chia.

PKR recently alleged that Mohd Nedim was driving a black Hummer H2 registered under Chia’s name.

The businessman was probed by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over a RM40 million “political donation” for Sabah Umno.

“I do not know him (Azwandin). I do not respond to roadside politicians. He is a non-entity,” said Nazri.

“I’d be very worried if leaders from Umno had made such statements, not him,” he said before calling Azwandin a “a frog or a toad” for quitting PKR.

Nazri said he is an asset to Umno and that was why other parties are currently attacking him.

“Why else would they attack me? Obviously I’m an asset,” he said.

Nazri invited Azwandin to contest him in Padang Rengas to find out whether he had actually become a liability as Azwandin had claimed.

“You’d never know if I am a liability until we go for the polls. Let the rakyat decide if I am a liability,” he said. – by Ram Anand Via Mmail
