KUALA LUMPUR: An unemployed husband-wife duo were charged in a Sessions Court here with robbing a female real estate agent of RM70,000 in cash and property.

Wong Wai Kit, 33, was also accused of molesting the 33-year old agent.

They were alleged to have committed the offences at an apartment in Mont Kiara Palma, here at 5pm on May 10.

The couple, who were unrepresented, claimed trial to all charges.

DPP Ahmad Nazneen Zulkifki urged the court to set bail at RM20,000 as they had allegedly injured the victim and were flight risks, having recently moved to Kelantan.

In mitigation, Wong’s wife How Sow Kim, 33, pleaded for lower bail, blaming her husband for forcing her to go along with the robbery.

Wong also pleaded that his wife’s bail amount be lowered, adding that he would not ask for bail having no surety, as reported in The Star.

He added that his wife would need to take care of their children aged four and seven years old, one of which has asthma.

Judge Datuk Jaget Singh set bail at RM2,000 for How and RM15,000 for Wong for both of his charges.

“The bail set is reasonable for the second accused (How), as she has to take care of her two kids. Her husband has a higher bail. The odds of her not appearing in court are slim.”

He fixed July 27 for case management.
