IPOH – A former air force man was found dead in an orchard near the North-South Expressway, a day after he accidentally shot his stepson during a husband-and-wife quarrel.

The body of S. Ravindran, formerly of the Royal Malaysian Air Force, was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head near Rapat Perdana at about 11.30am yesterday.

Ipoh police chief Asst Comm Azisman Alias said police found a Norinco pistol beside Ravindran’s body.

His motorcycle was parked nearby.

ACP Azisman said a passer-by stumbled upon the body in the orchard, close to Km282 of the expressway, and called the police.

On Tuesday, Ravindran accidentally fired his gun when the family pet dog attacked him at their house in Taman Rapat Indah here. The bullet hit his 15-year-old stepson in the thigh.

The 4.30pm incident occurred during a quarrel with his wife outside the house.

In panic, Ravindran fled on his bike.

The boy is recuperating at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital where his condition is reported to be stable.

Ravindran had allegedly pulled out the gun during a quarrel with his wife.

Seeing this, she ran into the house and at the same time, Ravindran was said to have fired a shot at her but missed.

At this juncture, the family dog pounced on him and bit him, causing Ravindran to accidentally pull the trigger again.

The shot went astray and hit the teenager who was nearby. Apparently, the couple had been estranged and the husband had moved out of their home two months ago. – The Star
