Gangsters assaulted Indraf 2.0 Organizers V Ganabatirao and Raidu
PETALING JAYA (May,31) : Indraf 2.0 rally organisers V Ganabatirao and his brother Raidu were assaulted by three men last night and suffered serious injuries.
The assault happened in Klang and is believed to be linked to the Indraf 2.0 rally on Sunday in support of Pakatan Rakyat.
The rally, held in Brickfields, drew a crowd of about 3,000. Raidu’s arm was broken along with several other injuries whereas Ganabatirao sustained a broken nose.
Recounting the incident, Ganabatirao said the attack took place at 10pm. “We were in Meru to attend a funeral when three gangsters approached us.
“One of them used a car steering lock and assaulted us,” said Ganabatirao who is currently warded in a private hospital in Klang. He also confirmed that a police report has been lodged on the assault.
“A police inspector recorded my statement at 3am this morning.The police hasn’t been able to speak to Raidu yet,” he said, adding that Raidu was undergoing surgery.
Asked on the reason for the assault, Ganabatirao said that local gangsters were afraid of the influence that he had over the people in Meru.
