Estino Taniyu conquers English Channel
KUALA LUMPUR: The 1Malaysia English Channel Unity Swim Expedition swimmer, Estino Taniyu, made history on Friday when he completed his solo challenge across the English Channel at 10.20pm Malaysian time Friday.
The Prime Minister’s press secretary Datuk Akmar Hisham Mokhles said Estino, 24, completed the challenge at Calais in France, after taking off from Dover Beach in the United Kingdom at 8.41am on the same day.
Estino, who is a Malaysian Royal Navy personnel from Sabah, clocked 13 hours 45 minutes and 45 seconds.

The team comprised Mohd Roslan Mohd Zawawi, as the lead swimmer, Mohd Khairul Faizal Mazli, Mohd Salleh Mahmor, Buranurdin Sali, Sharizal Omar and Mohd Zulfadhli Mahamad.
“We are grateful that the challenge is completed. We would like to thank all Malaysians for their prayers,” Akmar Hisham said.
The expedition is organised by the Malaysian 7 Continents Exploration Club under the patronage of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
