DRS now exports tomatoes to Oman

DRS Trading Sdn Bhd, a tropical fruit exporter, tapped into the overseas markets to export Malaysian fruits. Recently, they made a breakthrough in exporting tomatoes to Muscat, Oman.

Its director P.Ravindran, said DRS is currently exporting to the Middle East to countries like the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia besides Oman, as well as to Europe including the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Finland, France, Belgium and Germany.


Among the fruits that have already hit those markets are star fruit, dragon fruit, jackfruit, papaya, mango, rambutan and mangosteen.


“We have about 40.47 hectares of farm that produce fruits for export, approximately 10 hectares owned by us and the remaining of 20 other farms has been leased on a contract basis,” he added.

Ravi said the fruits DRS exports are of premium quality and meet various international standards. Last year alone DRS exported about 366 tonnes of fruits, with 60% bound for Europe and the rest to the Middle East.
