‘Do or die’ remark, sign of UMNO preparing for a defeat
Jun 7, 2012: Deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s description of the next general election as a “do-or-die battle” for Barisan Nasional caught the attention of PAS’s Mujahid Yusof Rawa, who said UMNO was preparing for a defeat at the coming polls.
“Only those who are afraid would come out with such a statement. Without realising, this reveals BN’s fear in facing the 13th general election,” said the Parit Buntar member of parliament.
Among others, Muhyiddin has said that “the prime time of BN has passed, and if the opposition is doing good and the people are supporting them, it is a problem to us.”
Mujahid however said the fear was due to the people’s increasing support for Pakatan Rakyat.
“Nothing they have been doing has been effective to the people,” he added.
BN’s incessant attacks on PR, stressed Mujahid, had failed to have any impact on the people.
In fact, it has proven to the people that BN now was less capable of leading the country, he added.
“The next general election is not about PR winning or not, it is about whether the people want to save Malaysia from BN from inflicting further damage,” said Mujahid. – Harakah Daily
