PUTRAJAYA — The people should not pawn their future by testing the opposition’s capability in ruling the country, said Human Resource Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam.

He said a wrong decision made at the 13th general election would leave a profound effect on the people, especially the new generation.

Hence, he said the people should make the right decision to enable the government to continue to strive towards a developed nation apart from maintaining peace and stability.

“Do not waste the opportunity by making a wrong decision and only to regret it later. It is like pawning the future of the next generation,” Subramaniam (picture) said at an Aidilfitri open house hosted by the ministry here today.

Subramaniam, who is also MIC deputy president, said Malaysia continued to see progress with the gross domestic product (GDP) growth surpassing five per cent in the first half of this year amid sluggish world’s economy, especially in Europe.

“In some countries, the unemployment rate has risen to more than 40 per cent, but in Malaysia it is less than three per cent. This shows that we are in a strong position,” he said. — Bernama (TMI)
