IPOH  –  The grandmother of the two children who were killed after the car they were in crashed into a parked lorry has yet to inform their mother about their deaths.

Che Atikah Mohd Isa, 55, said she did not know how to tell her daughter Zalikha Kamarulzaman, 26, about the tragedy.

She said her daughter was still warded at the Manjung Hospital where she was recovering from her injuries.

“She asked me about the condition of her children but I told her to rest and get well first,” she told reporters after the remains of her grandchildren were laid to rest at the Sungai Ular Muslim cemetery here yesterday.

On Sunday, Harith Danial Muhamad Syakir, five, and his sister Nur Aleeya Maisara, six, were flung out of the car and died on the spot.

The driver of the car, Rela member Mohd Ramli Abdul Wahab, 27, also died in the accident after he apparently lost control of the vehicle when one of its tyres burst.

Zalikha, also a Rela member, and her 18-year-old brother were seriously injured in the 2.30pm accident at KM25 of the Lumut-Ipoh highway. -asiaone
