– “I am disappointed with the former Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, who is now a DAP member, Datuk Zaid Ibrahim as he had insulted the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah,” said Kajendran Doraisamy, MIC Selangor Youth Chief, in his press release.

“I strongly belief that Zaid’s statement not only considered disrespectful but also clearly shows that he failed to understand the true meaning of Sultan’s words and Zaid was trying to challenge the sovereignty of the Sultan.”

His majesty made the statement because he was concerned about the future of the country as well as the unity of the people in the country, especially in Selangor.

He told that the Sultan of Selangor’s message should be seen from a positive point of view. But, as usual, the opposition especially DAP took this opportunity to spin the entire issue with malice aforethought.

“It is best that Zaid Ibrahim to immediately apologize to the Selangor Sultan and he should refrain from repeating the same mistakes in future. Leaders, especially from the Opposition should show a good example and use discretion whenever they talk about the royal institution, in line with the principles of the Rukunegara,” he stressed.

By disputing the Sultan’s statement, Zaid ‘s action clearly indicates that he is trying to undermine the role of the Malay rulers. He is just portraying his arrogant and snobbish attitude.

Kajendran opines that Zaid should stop his provocative actions which touched on the sensitivity of others by using political platforms to achieve what he had set out to do.

“I hope that he will apologize to the Sultan of Selangor, for his uncalled for remarks.”
