Curly, Larry, Moe and Harry of the theft world
USING fear factor in the form of a revolver, four car robbers managed to pull off 14 cases in six months.
Initial police investigation revealed they would trail the targets to their home, swoop in when the victims get out of their vehicles and brandish the handgun to put down any resistance.
Their luck ran out when a task force from Sentul police managed to nab the gang members following a two week surveillance at a restaurant in Taman Kepong Baru on Jan 4.
District police chief ACP Zakaria Pagan said the four, aged between 30 and 40, drove to the restaurant in a stolen Honda CRV with fake registration numbers.
“We seized a revolver loaded with two bullets. We also found laptops and several house break-in tools including various access cards to gated communities.”
Police recovered a BMW 3-Series, a Kia Spectra and a Perodua Myvi reported stolen in Bukit Sentosa, Kampung Baru Subang and Serdang.
All four had previous criminal record for armed robbery, while the suspected leader was only released six months ago from restricted residence in Kelantan.
“We have also linked them to another 10 similar cases in Sentul district,” said Zakaria.
All the suspects, who are under remand, also tested positive for methamphetamine. – MM
