Coach Jeremy feels sad over V Shem-Wee Kiong
Having played an important role behind their success at the Rio Olympics last year, national doubles coach Jeremy Gan admitted that he feels sad about the difficult situation that his charges Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong are going through.
Jeremy said the pair, who have struggled for form this season, need to follow their instincts until a decision is made by the BA of Malaysia (BAM).
“They admitted that their poor performance was to blame for their early exit at the Glasgow World Championships. However, I have to praise them for their willingness to discuss their issues,” said Jeremy.
“I think it is important that they do not fight and continue to discuss and work out a solution for the long term.”
The duo did well to win silver in Rio, capture the Super Series finals in Dubai and rise No 1 in the world rankings last year.
They, however, have been inconsistent this season which has subsequently seen a number of parties calling for BAM to take action.
Their fate will be known after the Coaching and Training Committee (C&T) meeting on Monday, which will be chaired by BAM president Datuk Seri Norza Zakaria.
A source claimed that the decision whether to split the pair will be made during the meeting. – AFP
