SIBU  –  A man from Sibu Jaya was injured when he got involved in a fight in a pub here during the wee hours of Saturday.

Sources said before the 1.30am incident, Macdonal Wong, 26, had quarrelled with several pub goers, leading to an attack. One of his attackers was armed with a knife.

Wong managed to get himself to the hospital for treatment.

The hospital authorities then alerted the police about the incident.

In a separate incident, a 35-year-old man was attacked by an armed stranger when he was driving home recently.

The incident happened when the man was heading back to his Laichee Lane home. When he neared his house, a Perodua Viva car with two men inside overtook him and blocked his path.

The man got out from his car and one of his assailants also did the same.  When he demanded why they had blocked his car, the stranger whipped out a wooden bar and beat him up, resulting in injuries to his body and limbs.

The man told police that his assailant then bolted back to his car presumably to take a knife, but he (victim) quickly sped off to escape further harm.

Before speeding off, the man did jot down his assailant’s car plate number.

In another case, a man’s Christmas visit to a longhouse at Rantau Panjang was spoilt when he was surrounded by 10 intoxicated villagers and ended up being assaulted by one of them.

The 28-year-old victim had parked his car in front of the longhouse when he arrived at noon on Christmas Day.

The 10 villagers then surrounded his car and one of them knocked on his window.

When the driver scrolled down the window, the man punched him and warned him not to park in front of their longhouse.  – borneopost
