Bahasa Malaysia a must for foreign students

KUALA LUMPUR  –  Foreign students in both public and private tertiary institutions in Malaysia will now have to pass Communicational Bahasa Melayu.

Higher Education Minister  told the Star, this was to help international students deal with local culture.

“I don’t think it would deter foreign students from studying here.

“It’s very basic conversational language skills, like how our Malaysian students learn German or Russian when they study in those countries,” he told reporters after launching the 25th Star Education Fair here Saturday.
