KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 (Bernama) — The Malaysian Artistes Association (Seniman) has called for control over what it claims is a large number of foreigners entering the domestic entertainment industry. Its deputy president, Zed Zaidi, said failure to check the trend would result in the industry being taken over by the foreign artistes.”Undeniably, foreign artistes can help boost the domestic entertainment industry. However, an uncontrolled influx of these foreigners can jeopardise the business of the local artistes,” he said in the “Dalam Radar” programme aired over Bernama Radio24. Zed suggested that Malaysia impose tight regulations, like many other countries, to control the influx of foreign artistes. He also hit out at those who glorified foreign artistes in their
productions, saying there were sufficient number of talented artistes in the country as well.
